Behind the pseudonym Pierre La Police hides one of the French comics underground-scene reference author whose real identity remains unknown. His work challenges any attempt of classification and places itself at the boundary between comic, animation and visual arts. Through the juxtaposition of incongruous elements taken from the media flux following no apparent logic, Pierre La Police subjects mass culture to radical criticism.
He begins publishing his drawings in the early 90s in French newspapers and magazines, amongst which “Les Inrockuptibles”, “Libération”, “Le Soir”, “So Foot”. The cult photographic novel La Balançoire de Plasma (1996-1999, Cornelius), Top Télé Maximum, a synthesis of the “best” 90s seen-on-TV, and the Véridique! (1999-2002) collection are the works that better represent the complexity of the artistic career of Pierre La Police.
