Fourth edition of the Farben National Prize promoted by Arci Bologna in collaboration with Hamelin, Bologna Jazz Festival, Circolo Arci San Lazzaro and Binario 69, and made with the contribution of Regione Emilia-Romagna within the project Polimero promoted by Arci Emilia-Romagna. The Prize aims to enhance and promote the language of comics and illustration.
This year’s contest celebrates the centennial of the release of the first jazz album, recorded in New York on February 26, 1917 by Nick La Rocca’s Original Dixieland Jass Band. Farben 2017 is dedicated to the connections that may arise from the encounter between musical language and design.
The five finalists will exhibit their works at Circolo Binary 69 (via de Carracci) and will be rewarded on the inauguration evening on Sunday, November 12 at 8.30PM. Bologna Jazz Festival will then give space to music with the concert by Kimia Ghorbani & Tarifa, part of “Sound routes” show. The Farben Prize is, as every year, open to emerging illustrators or professionals, resident in Italy, aged 14 to 35. The winners will be awarded by a quality jury composed of representatives of Hamelin, Arci Bologna and Gianluca Costantini.
