PREMIO FARBEN 2016

At the festival

The Farben national award, now in its third edition, created with the contribution of Emilia-Romagna Region under the Polimero project brought by Arci Emilia-Romagna, dedicated to the promotion of Illustration and Comic Art.

The topic of this year competition is Fear. Fear can have different forms, take on different shapes and colors, turn into creatures and scary monsters. It may change according to time and age. It may be fear of difference or of the unknown; fear of real or of fictitious threats. Of course, fear has a common root with fantasy, two elements that merge one with the other during childhood. Therefore imagination and fantasy are the best tools to expel fear, to translate it into something big and beautiful, to tackle with courage and curiosity present and future challenges.

The call asks to illustrate an unpublished poem written specially for the occasion by Azzurra D’Agostino, Francesca Genti and Francesca Matteoni, interpreting the topic of fear in an original and creative way, through the comics or illustration mediums.

The award is open to emerging illustrators or professionals Italian or Italian resident, aged 14 to 35. Collective subjects are also allowed. Each participant can send a visual narrative composed of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 tables. The deadline for entries is 24 October 2016.
