Born in 1977 in Montebelluna, Luca Genovese lives and works in Bologna. He attended International School of Comics in Firenze, and graduated in 2000. In 2001 he debuts with “Della nebbia e altre storie”, an anthology of short stories published by Centro Fumetto “Andrea Pazienza” of Cremona. Coming soon after, Zero Zélo and Ely é là (written by Luana Vergari), both books published by Indy Press.
He starts then a collaboration with the American writer Neal Shaffer, who asks him to draw the The Awakening trilogy, published in the United States by Onipress.
In 2003 he sets up with the writer and friend Luca Vanzella the indipendent comic label Self Comics, one of the most operant Italian labels. Besides being the editor and art director of Self Comics, he published under this name many short stories, as for example Gloria, ovvero il giorno in cui….
In 2006 he draws Il fuoco segreto (written by Massimo Marcucci and Gianni Barbieri), commissioned by Ravenna Museum System, and published by Alta Fedeltà.
In 2005 he wins the “Nuove Strade” award at Napoli Comicon, and recently the award as Best Artist for his work on the book Ferragosto at Fumetti in TV 2007.
The exhibition, taking place at Libreria Feltrinelli, is going to show a selection of sketches and original artwork from the author’s last work, a graphic novel, written by Luca Vanzella, about the Italian songwriter Luigi Tenco.
