BilBOlbul, international comics festival

Born in 1966, he lives in Liege, Belgium. He teaches at the Artistic High School Saint-Luc de Liège. His first book, L’eau du duc came out 1995 from the publisher Le lézard. He often draws for the publisher Rouergue with whom he published books such as Le petit Parrondo Illustré, Où?, Foret-Wood. He is one of the foundering members of the French publishing house L’Association, with whom he published Parfois les ennuis mettent un chapeau, Histoires à emporter, Olibrius, La porte… Some of his stories have become animations for French television.

José Parrondo is a Belgian comics author, illustrator an musician who has, over the course of his twenty-plus year career realized numerous titles for children and young adults as well as grown adults thanks to his subtle irony and precise, unique style.

Parrondo, through minimalist lines and text, opens the door to childhood and the absurd; a space shared by children and adults where the author always troubles the relationship between word and image, demonstrating contradictions and paradoxes. His world is made of lists of impossible trees, stories never told, holes to other dimensions and linguistic and visual games.
