Fabrizio Fabbri’s exhibition is made up of a series of paintings, some of them inspired by his work drawing vignettes of a recent holiday in Turkey, others by the worlds of the internet and social networking. His art is inspired by a wide range of artists and traditions, from New York artists Keith Haring and Basquiat to social comics and humor in the tradition of “Frigidaire” with which Fabbri has been a collaborator. The artist gives particular attention to themes regarding daily and social life, his stories speak of everyday routines and at times can be a even a bit naive, but it is in this simplicity deeper more reflective levels are hidden. His images don’t impose on the reader but enter gently into his vision, shaking and awaking in him hazy sensations. Fabbri is pervasive and honest, he always approaches his work, which covers serious topics such as politics, religion, the environment and war with irony and lightness.

Fabrizio Fabbri, called Bicio, is a painter, comic author and cartoonist. He was born in Palazzuolo sul Senio, Florence in 1954. He has worked with major Italian magazines including, “Cuore,” “Zut,” “Il Clandestino,” “Renudo,” and “XL.” He has also drawn short comics for “Frigidaire,” “Fagoro,” and “Inguine.” In 2001 he published a book of ironic poetry Il naso di Pandora (Pandora’s Nose), with Montedit. He received the Forte dei Marmi prize for satire in 2007. Presently he is a collaborator with the weekly “Emme” directed by Staino and the literary magazine “Ellin Selae.”
